The next monthly legal aid clinic will take place at Ukrainian Canadian Social Services building at Bloor and Jane streets in Toronto on Tuesday, November 21st, 2017, and then again on Tuesday, December 12th, 2017, both at 7 PM. All are welcome to bring their legal questions to our lawyers.
Note that the Ukrainian legal aid clinic provides free legal advice to clients on a wide variety of legal matters including immigration, family law, wills and estates, employment law, contracts, landlord tenant, real estate, personal injury and other matters. Lawyers from the Ukrainian Canadian Bar Association offer their services for free in a joint initiative of the Bar with the Ukrainian Canadian Social Services – Toronto Branch.
The clinic has been serving clients for two years now on a monthly basis. Lawyers serve clients in Ukrainian, English and Russian – although the principal language used is Ukrainian. The purpose of the clinic is to help members of the Ukrainian community in Toronto with their legal issues for the sake of building a stronger Ukrainian community in Canada. All lawyers involved are fluent in Ukrainian and English and some speak Russian as well as Polish. As part of its effort, the Ukrainian legal aid clinic encourages members of the Ukrainian community to financially support the Ukrainian Canadian Social Services – Toronto Branch and reminds other lawyers and those doing estate planning to include the Ukrainian Canadian Social Services – Toronto Branch in estate plans and wills.
As part of its community building effort, some of the lawyers involved in the legal clinic are discussing a plan to hold a dinner with the lawyers who have helped the effort as well as with the leaders of the Ukrainian Canadian Bar Association and the Ukrainian Canadian Social Service Toronto Branch to celebrate their achievements. More about this initiative will come in the days ahead.
