Dear Members,
February 24 marks four years since the beginning of the full‑scale invasion of Ukraine. It is with profound regret that this ruthless war still wages on and we all hope for peace ahead. On this day, we pause together in remembrance of the lives lost, the families displaced, and the profound disruption experienced by so many within Ukraine and across the Ukrainian diaspora.
This anniversary is also a moment to reflect on what Ukraine continues to fight for: dignity, self‑determination, the rule of law, and the fundamental rights that underpin a just and democratic society. These principles are not abstract to us as legal professionals. They are values we work to protect every day, and values that bind us together as a community.
We also recognize that many of our colleagues, members of the legal community in Ukraine, have been directly affected by the war. Lawyers, judges, academics, and legal professionals across the country have faced displacement, personal loss, and extraordinary professional challenges while continuing to uphold justice under extremely difficult circumstances. We stand strong with them in solidarity and deep respect for their resilience and dedication
As members of the Ukrainian Canadian Bar Association, we are connected by a shared commitment to justice, accountability, and the strengthening of legal institutions. In times of prolonged conflict and uncertainty, unity within our legal community matters. By standing together -through our work, our voices, and our mutual support – we reinforce the importance of the rule of law and the resilience of those who continue to uphold it under extraordinary circumstances.
Today, we honour those who have endured unimaginable hardship, we reaffirm our solidarity with Ukraine and its people, and we recognize the responsibility and privilege we have, as lawyers, to contribute to a stronger and more united community.
Thank you for continuing to support one another and for standing together in support of Ukraine.

Шановні члени,
24 лютого минає чотири роки з початку повномасштабного вторгнення в Україну. З глибоким сумом усвідомлюємо, що ця жорстока війна досі триває, і всі ми сподіваємося на настання миру. У цей день ми разом зупиняємося, щоб вшанувати пам’ять загиблих, родини, які були змушені покинути свої домівки, та глибокі потрясіння, яких зазнали мільйони людей в Україні та в українській діаспорі по всьому світу.
Ця річниця є також нагодою замислитися над тим, за що Україна продовжує боротися: за гідність, самовизначення, верховенство права та основоположні права людини, що є підґрунтям справедливого і демократичного суспільства. Для нас, як правників, ці принципи не є абстрактними. Це цінності, які ми щодня захищаємо у своїй роботі, і цінності, що об’єднують нас як професійну спільноту.
Ми також визнаємо, що багато наших колег – представників юридичної спільноти в Україні, які безпосередньо постраждали від війни. Адвокати, судді, науковці та інші правники по всій країні зазнали вимушеного переселення, особистих втрат та надзвичайних професійних викликів, продовжуючи водночас відстоювати справедливість у надзвичайно складних обставинах. Ми твердо стоїмо з ними в солідарності та з глибокою повагою до їхньої стійкості й відданості.
Як члени Українсько-канадської асоціації правників, ми об’єднані спільною відданістю справедливості, підзвітності та зміцненню правових інституцій. У часи затяжного конфлікту й невизначеності єдність нашої юридичної спільноти має особливе значення. Об’єднуючись через нашу працю, наші голоси та взаємну підтримку, ми підсилюємо значення верховенства права та підтримуємо тих, хто продовжує його відстоювати в надзвичайних умовах.
Сьогодні ми вшановуємо тих, хто пережив немислимі труднощі, підтверджуємо нашу солідарність з Україною та її народом і усвідомлюємо відповідальність, як юристи, та необхідність сприяти формуванню сильнішої та більш згуртованої спільноти.
Дякуємо вам за взаємну підтримку та за те, що залишаєтеся разом на підтримку України.
